English groundsman praises E-Marker
‘Superior paint, fantastic device.’ That’s where Luke Russell kicks off, the groundsman who, after Coventry City and Leicester City, ended up at OH Leuven and has now been putting down the best turf in the Belgian premier league for years in a row. He received the delivery in mid-July, just after the start of the pre-season on June 24, which includes training and friendly matches.
Raf Bogaerts of Expo-Line nods. ‘The paint greatly reduces the wear rate of the grass, dries up to three times faster than a standard paint, has a high degree of rain resistance and a high whiteness factor. Professional clubs achieve a double layer of paint due to the high degree of coverage with a 6-liter nozzle, while amateur clubs mainly want to last a long time with the paint and can get along just fine with a 3-liter nozzle.’
Russel adds, ‘All groundsmen are probably used to encountering lumps in their paint. The low-consumption paint associated with the EX E-Volution concept does not clump at all. We never need, beyond standard cleaning after use, additional cleaning to de-clog. The result of good paint is a machine that always works immediately. We are guaranteed to get off to a flying start with lines. The whiteness is good, but so are other high quality paints. What sets this paint apart from the others is that it doesn’t create hassles due to clumping.’

OHL re-sprinkles its main and training fields after every game because they make the grass grow quickly. After the mower, the E-Marker is the most used machine. That’s why Russell is pleased with the E-Marker’s robustness. ‘The pump has higher power compared to previous machines, so it pumps the paint through the machine more easily. The quality is visibly high because the pump always kicks in immediately and we haven’t noticed any hiccups with it yet.’ When he walks with the E-marker, he experiences great comfort. ‘This is because the weight distribution has been considered in the design, with the greatest weight resting on the rear axle, which allows for smooth maneuvering and when walking you don’t notice the true weight of the machine.
To date, there have been no breakdowns. But what Russell finds easy about the EX E-Volution concept, and the reason he encouraged the club to bring the EX E-Volution concept in-house, is the modular aspect. ‘If something happens, I don’t have to wait for a mechanic,’ Russel said. ‘Changing the boxes is easy. We get two extra boxes in stock. Those hardly take up any space in our shed, unlike when you put down two spare alignment machines. With just the boxes, we keep things tidy.’
